Prof. Victor Mbarika earns third Lifetime Achievement Award for promoting IT in developing nations
Professor Victor Mbarika has been recognized with yet another lifetime achievement award for his continuous efforts in advancing and promoting Information Technologies in developing nations.
The professor and Director of the International Centre for IT Research and Development at Southern University, Louisiana-USA earned his third-lifetime achievement award for his IT works in developing nations from the Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria.
The recognition for his contributions in the IT sector and for supporting the growth of education in Nigeria and other African countries was handed him by the Nsukka Diocese, in Enugu State during the 25th anniversary of the church.
He was awarded alongside Prof. Mrs. Nnamdi Azikiwe, wife of late Nigerian political legend, and first President of Nigeria, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
Officially handing over the recognition, the Anglican Bishop of Nsukka Rt. Revered Aloysius Eze Agbo, thanked the laureate for distinguished himself in the promotion of education in the country, through empowering the youth in the area of ICT. Southern’s Victor Mbarika earns third lifetime achievement award for IT work in developing nations
As reported by The Drum newspaper, “In recognition of his contributions to the growth of education in Nigeria and other African countries, Southern University professor Victor Marika was recently honored by the Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, Nsukka Diocese, in Enugu State, for his work in information and communication technology.
Mbarika is an endowed professor of information and communication technology at Southern University and A&M College. He also directs the International Centre for IT Research and Development at Southern which focuses on advancing IT research and training worldwide with emphasis on developing nations

The ICT University Donates an E-Library to The Federal College of Education, Nigeria
The ICT University has donated an E-Library(Digital Library) to The Federal College of Education, Eha Amufu, Enugu, Nigeria.
Speaking during its inauguration, the University Board of Trustees President, Prof W. A. Mbarika, said the donation came through a partnership with the ICT University. He noted that there was an interaction between the college’s Provost, Prof Benjamin Mbah, who sought the varsity’s assistance for the college’s staff and students to boost their research and learning.

The topic of discussion was centered around deliberation and planning of launching another prestigious campus of The ICT University in Nigeria and West Africa.

ICT University Foundation Donates Over N30 Million To Nigerian Varsity For ICT
The ICT University donated N30 million worth of e-library facility equipped with world class equipment to the Kaduna State University (KASU).
Prof. Victor Mbarika, the President, Board of Trustee of the university said that the gesture was to boost the deployment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) teaching and learning in the university. Mbarika, while handing over the facility to the university Chief Librarian in Kaduna, said the e-library would enable the university lecturers to upload all their courses and teaching materials online.According to him, this will enable students access the courses online from other parts of the world and also access other books and journals for free that would have cost them huge amount of money.

“Many university leaders in Nigeria and Africa do not care about technology. They prefer to remain in the dark ages of teaching and learning, but KASU vice chancellor and the chief librarian belong to the digital age. They have made several efforts in terms of deploying technology for teaching and learning, we want to support them to succeed in this regard.”

E-learning: ICT University Boosts KASU ICT Facilities With $250,000
As part of its effort to make developing economies, destination for research, innovation and training by 2020, Information and Communication Technology University (ICT-U), State of Louisiana, USA on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the Kaduna State University (KASU) to empower the University with ICT infrastructure development. Speaking with journalists immediately after signing the MoU, Professor Victor Mbarika, President, Board of Trustees, ICT-U, said the agreement between the two Universities will provide e-learning and e-library services to students of the institution.
According to the president, the facilities will cost his organization an average of $250,000, which is about 90 million naira, adding, “The average cost of e-learning and e-library center is about $250,000 and so we are excited that many of our funding organisations in the United States and other countries around the world are chipping in to make this happen.”
Professor Mbarika, noted that his organization will not waste time in the delivery of the equipment, saying, “We should have the commissioning within the next two months maximum. The shipment will take place probably in the next two to three weeks as soon as I head back to the US, I will give the order.”
