During this audience granted by Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute to the president and founder of the ICT University, Professor Victor Mbarika, and to the Brazilian delegation, the head of government of the Republic of Cameroon affirmed with conviction that this partnership will significantly contribute to stimulating the agricultural sector and creating jobs for many Cameroonians. This partnership, which aligns with President Paul Biya’s vision of modernizing the agricultural sector in Cameroon, will revitalize Cameroonian agriculture.
Joseph Dion Ngute urged the various stakeholders to strictly adhere to the project guidelines. He assured the delegation of the government’s full support for the modernization of agriculture in the country. The head of the Brazilian delegation, Professor Flavio Henrique Vasconcelos De Medeiros of UFLA University, emphasized that this partnership aimed to join forces with ICT University to revitalize agriculture in Cameroon and Africa. “Our university has been a major player in agriculture for over 100 years. Our goal is to combine our efforts in all the areas we cover,” he stated. Professor Flavio added, “Thanks to Cameroon and the already established reputation of ICT University, this project can benefit all of Africa in terms of training and by empowering young entrepreneurs.”
For him, the enthusiasm he has witnessed since arriving in the country is a valuable asset for the project’s success. “I have been impressed by the dynamism of the young people. This partnership will allow us to establish exemplary cooperation for the whole world,” he said.
For his part, Professor Victor Mbarika stated that the project aims to move beyond traditional agricultural methods towards technical agriculture using modern technologies. He specified that the objective is to employ 10,000 young Cameroonians within five years. “We are launching digital agriculture because many young Cameroonians believe that agriculture is reserved for the elderly and the poorest. We want to demonstrate that with artificial intelligence and robotics, we can practice agriculture not only for local consumption but also for large-scale export,” he declared.

Project components
The first component, digital agriculture, integrates ICT, artificial intelligence, and agricultural robotics. As part of the practical training, students work on micro-plots of 0.125 hectares to apply their theoretical knowledge. A small-scale local processing unit adds value to the harvests and strengthens the local value chain.
The project also includes an incubation program for agro-entrepreneurial projects aimed at supporting 500 rural micro-enterprises.
He received the support of the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, who recognizes his potential to promote youth employment, agricultural vocational training, and food sovereignty in Cameroon.
